Project Update - September 2012:
The 2012 class decided that the harvest from this project will be donated to Meaningful Gleaning of Rutherford County.   This nonprofit, grassroots group comes to the Farmers Market every Friday to collect 'leftovers' from the market vendors to be distributed to organizations such as Second Harvest and Homeless Shelters around the County.  Their mission statement:  To bring local food from local growers through local volunteers to local needy.

Harvest donated to date:  111.25 lbs

Project Summary:
The 2012 Master Gardener Class has chosen to develop 3 demonstration raised beds for their class project.  One bed will be constructed of wood, one of concrete blocks, and one will be a “Lasagna Bed” using straw as its foundation.   A mulched path will lead from the sidewalk to the vegetable gardens to help define the garden. The beds are located in front of the Lane Agri-Center, and will be developed throughout the growing season.
